Emphasis is placed not only on the acquisition of larger vocabulary over the summer, but also on the fostering of the student's curiosity about words and their definitions. In word analysis, the student examines the structure of language from a phonetic and structural viewpoint.   Those in need of more remedial instruction focus on decoding skills. Students are trained to develop their vocabularies independently through regular reading and dictionary use. All word skill sections include vocabulary study.
