The last day of the Salisbury Summer School has traditionally been called ‘Progress Day.’ It is important that students and their parents make every effort to attend these events so that they may join with their teachers and advisors to celebrate the achievements of the five previous weeks.
During the morning, thirty minute conferences are scheduled between parents and their son or daughter’s advisor. In the event that parents cannot attend, telephone conferences are possible.
Progress Day closing ceremonies take place under the canopy of trees on the front hill if weather permits. In the event of inclement weather, ceremonies will be moved into the school chapel. After welcoming remarks and an overview of the summer from the director, academic department chairs make brief presentations and students are recognized for special achievements. Faculty advisors will award individual certificates of attendance to each advisee. A fine luncheon in the dining room concludes this session of the Salisbury Summer School.
